Giving/Stewardship - Special Event Fundraising
About Special EventsThe most familiar form of fundraising is special events. Auctions, balls, raffles, and a host of other activities are used in the smallest and largest organizations, whether religious or secular. Generally managed by volunteers, the contribution always is part of the ticket or admission price. The special event avoids the anxiety of face-to-face solicitation because a specific benefit is attached to participation in the event. See Fundraising 101 for further information about outreach activities in the context of an informative article about development basics. Special Event Ideas Within the Episcopal Church, Shrove Tuesday pancake supper is a traditional event designed to encourage gifts from parishioners in anticipation of the Lenten season. For reference, here is a pancake recipe from the British Broadcasting Corporation. |
