Clergy sometimes find it difficult to address money outside of a budget discussion with their vestries or bishops committees. For some, the prospect of engaging a church member in conversation about money or incorporating money into a sermon can prove daunting.  The Rev. Canon Michael Stephenson, Canon for Development, has addressed these qualms in a presentation, Talking About Money. His presentation, featured below, addresses such questions as:  Why don’t people talk about money? How would you liturgically express your theology of money? Canon Stephenson provides some suggestions for discussing pledging in relationship to ministry, creating a healthy environment for discussing money and giving, and generating the foundation for intentional giving.
